Alexandra Adlawan, Alex for short, is a Long Beach, CA resident who began drawing characters and creating stories in 5th grade. In August 2018, at Gatsby Books in Long Beach, the Millikan High School graduate celebrated the debut of her first children’s book entitled “Wild Imagination: The Adventures of Maddie and Albert.”

“I love books of all kinds,” says Alexandra, who currently attends “Exceptional Minds,” an animation and visual effects school for young adults on the autism spectrum. “My book is about encouraging imagination within young people. It is also about embracing the differences in others.”

Alexandra started writing and illustrating her book in November of 2017. In “Wild Imagination,” Maddie and Albert are the central characters in the story, and although they are opposites, they find a way to form a bond. Albert is shy, quiet and loves to read. Maddie, on the other hand, is boisterous and full of energy.

When Maddie and Albert spark a friendship, they journey through a series of adventures spanning space, the open seas, and an African safari, to name a few.

In early 2019, Alexandra continues the Adventures of Maddie and Albert with the publication of the second book in the series, “How I Spent My Summer Vacation – The Adventures of Maddie and Albert.”

“I still can’t believe I’m a published author,” Alexandra said. “Now I am working on three other ideas for books.”

Alexandra is very proud of being the driving force in the creation of the publishing company Amazing Artists LLC. Amazing Artists long term goal is to help promote artist across the disability spectrum, like herself, to share their art with the world.

Your inclusive support of their art helps the artists support themselves.
